A Georgia organization devoted to unfettered gun rights asked a federal judge Wednesday to suspend enforcement of a state law requiring licenses for people carrying handguns in public.

In making the request, attorney John Monroe, vice president and general counsel of GeorgiaCarry.Org, said he was temporarily setting aside a second request to force Fulton County Probate Judge Pinkie Toomer to treat the issuance of gun carry licenses as an essential function during the judicial emergency caused by COVID-19.
