Personal injury attorney Neil Flit, who once heavily advertised in metro Atlanta area under the slogan "If you've been hit, call Neil Flit," has surrendered his bar license after a special master appointed by the Georgia Supreme Court determined he mishandled funds belonging to two clients.

According to the opinion released Wednesday, Flit represented a client in a 2013 settlement and deposited the funds into his trust account. The client died in January 2014, but Flit did not turn over the proceeds or provide an accounting to the client's estate until February 2018.

The second case involved a June 2016 settlement Flit reached on behalf of a client. He did not promptly produce an accounting or hand over the money to his client until January 2019.

The special master recommended that the high court accept the voluntary surrender of Flit's law license, essentially disbarring him.

Flit joined the bar in 2007 and is a graduate of the Salmon P. Chase College of Law. There was no immediate response from Flit or the attorney handling the disciplinary matter for him, Roswell solo Warren Hinds, on Thursday.

The loss of his law license comes after Flit was sued by more than 20 former clients in Cobb and Fulton counties since 2017. He also is battling a Florida litigation funding company, Black Diamond Funding Venture, which sued him last year over what it claimed is a $2 million debt.

According to filings in that case, Flit blamed the implosion of his law firm on a litigation consultant he hired in 2015 who "insinuated himself into Flit's law practice, dominating Flit and systematically taking control of all facets" of the firm.

That case is ongoing in Fulton County State Court.
