Three former American presidents—from both political parties—eulogized U.S. Rep. John Lewis at his four-hour funeral in Atlanta on Thursday. So did the speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives. Another president couldn’t make it—he is 95—but sent a letter that Rev. Raphael Warnock read to the congregation at Ebenezer Baptist Church.

But the speaker who conveyed the congressman’s last request was former Atlanta Mayor William Craig “Bill” Campbell.
