As a former Atlanta City Attorney and personal lawyer for former mayor Bill Campbell, I am writing regarding the July 30 story regarding a “disbarred lawyer” (Mayor Campbell) speaking at Congressman John Lewis’ funeral.

The headline, “How a Disbarred Lawyer Came to Deliver a Dying Hero’s Final Plea,” was wrong on so many levels and so egregious that it is emblematic of the issues that African-Americans face in today’s society, and totally tone-deaf in this era of increased focus on equality.
