Retired Judge Bensonetta Tipton Lane served two decades on the Fulton County Superior Court. Asked once by the Daily Report’s Greg Land about the most memorable trials she presided over, she said, “It’s not the cases that stick out,” she says. “It’s the children.”

For example, during her extensive tours in the court’s Family Division, the judge grew annoyed when parents fought over visitation schedules. “A child is not a piece of meat,” she’d say.
