Few governors have had the impact Nathan Deal had on the state judiciary, which is one reason the new home of the Georgia Supreme Court and State Court of Appeals is named for him.

After serving in the U.S. Army and graduating from Mercer University and law school, Deal worked in private law practice and all three branches of government—as a prosecutor, a judge, a state senator and U.S. congressman, culminating in his serving two terms as governor.
