Jerre Swann of Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton joined the firm in 1968 after graduating from Harvard Law School, proceeding to practice trademark law for nearly 50 years.

Swann developed a reputation as the nation’s leading expert on the use of surveys in trademark matters. He commissioned, supervised or analyzed over 100 trademark surveys in connection with litigation throughout the United States on behalf of companies from AT&T to Waffle House. Academically, he wrote on surveys and the areas of genericism and dilution. More recently, he has advocated for integrating social science research (beyond surveys) into a court’s assessment of likely confusion.
