Peter Carter, executive vice president and chief legal officer at Atlanta’s airline, rose to the No. 2 spot on the compensation list, but don’t expect him to stay there. Like many top executives in industries hit hard by economic side effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, Carter took a pay cut.

So his cash compensation of $1,828,200, including a $550,000 salary and $1,278,200 in nonequity incentives—will be far less when proxy reports are filed again, as will his compensation based on the company’s performance.
