In what appears to be a clash of small town politics and an inter-family struggle over a patriarch’s estate, the chief judge of the Walton County Probate Court is being asked to recuse from a case not because of what’s he’s done, but because of apprehensions regarding the potential influence of a lawyer and soon-to-be seated superior court judge on the case.

The case began with the January death of John C. Nunnally, “one of the wealthiest individuals in Walton County,” according to a motion seeking the recusal of Probate Court Judge Bruce Wright.
