On behalf of the State Bar of Georgia, I am writing to express congratulations to Chief Justice Harold D. Melton of the Supreme Court of Georgia on the tremendous honor bestowed on him earlier this month by Auburn University, his alma mater. The Auburn Board of Trustees voted unanimously to name the university’s student center as the Harold D. Melton Student Center.

This extraordinary tribute appropriately recognizes our chief justice’s many trailblazing achievements throughout his legal and judicial career, as well as his time as a student at Auburn. Raised in East Point and Marietta and a member of the Georgia Bar since 1991, Chief Justice Melton has served on our state’s highest court since 2005 and as chief justice since 2018.
