Forsyth County Superior Court Chief Judge Jeff Bagley has canceled plans to reinstitute in-person jury trials in November after the state’s chief justice began making inquiries.

Bagley said Wednesday he will delay reinstituting jury trials until January and has suspended the ongoing preparation of jury summonses that he said were to be mailed as soon as the chief justice of the Supreme Court of Georgia lifts a suspension on jury trials. Bagley said that court clerks were already putting together juror packets that included a summons and a letter from the judge intended to reassure prospective jurors COVID-19 safety protocols were in place when he pulled the plug.
