Business defense attorneys filed a motion for reconsideration Nov. 12 on a Georgia Supreme Court ruling that the plaintiff’s lawyers said is a victory that can help them in other civil cases where fault is divided.

The decision as it stands gives the losing side a chance for a new trial in a wrongful death case valued at $20 million. But it also changes what jurors can know and how they can split the money they award for this and other cases in a way that is making plaintiffs lawyers happy and defense lawyers not.
