A man who suffered a relatively mild brain injury when his car was struck by a tractor-trailer settled his claims for $550,000 on Friday, just as the case was about to go to mediation before a Georgia federal magistrate on Monday.

Plaintiff’s attorney Bethany Schneider said the insurer for the defendant trucker’s employer turned down an offer to settle the case for $150,000 and a later offer for $400,000 and also turned down a demand for the defendants’ $1 million policy limit.
