I am writing in response to a comment my colleagues and I have heard recently, and which is apparently being repeated in a “tongue in cheek” fashion in the halls of the state capitol these days, to the effect that the courts, judges and prosecutors (not to mention public defenders, staff and others) have been on “vacation” for the past 10 months, and that perhaps budgets should be reduced or adjusted to reflect this extended “time off.”

Facts speak for themselves.
