The Southeast continues to attract strong interest from large firms seeking growth, as just this week Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan launched a one-lawyer outpost in Atlanta and K&L Gates entered Nashville with a 27-lawyer group from local firms.

But national and regional firms trying to open new locations or hire laterals still face several obstacles from stiff competition and the insular, relationship-driven nature in the region’s cities.
