The number of Georgians who don’t know where their next meal will come from grew by about 344,000 people since the coronavirus pandemic started 13 months ago, according to a study released by the state’s food banks.

That means nearly 1.7 million people in the state—about 16%—are “food insecure,” including 562,000 children, the report by the Georgia Food Bank Association said. (The number of hungry children alone would fill more than two combinations of Georgia’s Sanford Stadium, the Atlanta Falcons’ Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Georgia Tech’s Bobby Dodd Stadium and the Atlanta Braves’ Trust Park.)
