The list of gubernatorial appointments made in Georgia over the past decade shows minorities  are outnumbered nearly five to one when it comes to being selected for state court benches.

That's sparked grassroot efforts among minority bar associations to strategically identify, groom and support a qualified pool of diverse lawyers seeking judgeships.

These groups often note the lack of diversity among the shortlisted candidates the Judicial Nominating Commission presents to the governor for consideration. They're now becoming increasingly proactive to improve gender and racial diversity.
