A jury in the small southeast Georgia town of Alma reached a $3.42 million verdict Thursday for the wrongful death of Mindy Taylor Spires, a 39-year-old mother of three.

Spires was killed in 2019 when her car was hit broadside by Jerry Price. He was accused of driving under the influence and running a stop sign on the West 4th Street Extension as he came to Friendship Church Road, crashing into the Spires’ vehicle and sending it spinning, rolling and slamming into a post.
