A State Bar of Georgia study committee eyeing possible changes in legal malpractice insurance narrowly approved a measure that—if adopted—will require Georgia lawyers to tell the bar whether they have liability insurance when they renew their licenses each year; that information will then be posted on the bar directory along with their other information.

The recommendation, approved during a July meeting, will go before the bar’s Executive Committee then to the Board of Governors; if they agree to any rule change, it must still be approved by the Georgia Supreme Court.
