The managing partner of employment law firm Barrett & Farahany, Amanda Farahany has spent more than 20 years representing employees in disputes with employers, counseling individuals considering new positions and analyzing employment discrimination and how courts deal with it.

When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, Farahany and her colleagues built on the firm's prior moves to go paperless and virtual to take the plunge and abandon their Peachtree Street headquarters entirely, shifting to a predominantly virtual operation.

Farahany recently took a few minutes to discuss those decisions and employment law in the age of COVID-19.

The questions and answers below have been edited for length and clarity, with some explanation added where necessary.

You were recently in a trial in federal court in Atlanta. Was that your first in-person trial?

Yes, the last time I was in court during the pandemic, it was by Zoom. Our firm has been 100% remote since last year, so it was crazy to go from not seeing people and not even being in my office to go before a judge and a jury in federal court. It was great being in court.
