The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit has cleared a policeman from liability for a fatal shooting with a ruling that a dissenting judge called “an unprecedented expansion of law enforcement officers’ permissible use of deadly force.”

“And not only do I believe the majority opinion is wrong, but I worry that it sets a dangerous standard for police use of force,” wrote Judge Jill Pryor in her dissenting opinion Tuesday.
