As courts work their way through a pandemic-imposed backlog of cases, some lawyers are fighting for clients, whom they say are facing civil rights violations while waiting for their day in court.

Now time is ticking down for a district attorney to answer the demands of civil rights attorneys that she utilize her authority to conduct a grand jury review of incidents in which Clayton County deputies, under the administration of county sheriff Victor Hill, allegedly “inflicted serious bodily injuries” upon the lawyers’ detained clients awaiting pre-trial hearings.
