Editor’s note: This letter regards U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit Judge Beverly B. Martin, who stepped down from the bench in September.

The Greek philosopher Aristotle is quoted as saying, “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.” By this measure, Judge Beverly B. Martin has throughout her 37-year career in public service exhibited a habit of excellence.
