Who can use the word “bloviate” seamlessly during oral argument, make an apt reference to “crossing the Rubicon” during casual conversation and remember the names and ages of all of your children – whether he has met them or not?

Whether he was unintentionally highlighting his command of the English language, reminding you that maybe you needed to study a little harder in history or confirming that you mattered deeply to him, Terry Sullivan (March 23, 1950—Jan. 16, 2021) stood as a constant reminder of what we as members of the legal profession should aspire to be: curious, humble, respected, empathetic. Terry was surely all of those things, but above all else he was genuine.
