Northern District of Georgia assistant U.S. attorney Ryan Buchanan is up for a big promotion.

Buchanan was among a list of nominees President Joe Biden released late Friday for U.S. attorney and U.S. marshal openings. If confirmed by the U.S. Senate, Buchanan would fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Byung Jin “BJay” Pak, who is now a litigator at Alston & Bird in Atlanta. Pak left following criticism from then-President Donald Trump over lack of action on demands to overturn the 2020 election results. Since then, Kurt Erskine has served as acting U.S. attorney.
