While courthouses in highly populated counties across Georgia are sticking with their plan to mostly mandate masks and keep vaccinations optional for visitors and employees amid the COVID-19 pandemic, one is loosening those restrictions and others are considering a similar move due to a recent drop in coronavirus cases.

According to the Georgia Department of Public Health’s website, on Nov. 9, there were only 1,259 COVID-19 confirmed cases in the state. That number was well below this summer’s peak of 9,744 on Aug. 25, caused by a spike in cases brought on by the virus’ delta variant.
