Fulton County has agreed to pay $2 million to settle claims that it held hundreds of inmates at the county jail for as long as five days beyond their scheduled release dates, when a statewide criminal database went offline in 2014 and jail staff couldn’t review their records.

The proposed settlement filed in federal court in Atlanta Thursday includes $800,000 in attorney fees and is expected to pay each of the 313 class members between $1.000 and $4,000 apiece, if approved by the judge.
