Drivers who’ve returned to their cars after shopping or dining out only to find them sporting a clunky iron boot and a notice that it’ll take some cash—sometimes a lot of cash—to get back on the road may take some solace in a Georgia Supreme Court ruling that greenlights a class action against the owner of a Decatur shopping center accused of having hundreds of vehicles booted illegally.

The ruling is likely to have an impact on dozens of similar cases pending elsewhere, including Fulton County State Court where several have been combined.
