Less than a month after the Supreme Court of Georgia issued a ruling nixing equitable caregiver status upon a dependent's 18th birthday, the high court has reconsidered its decision.

Rather than rule whether the award of visitation rights to an adoptive mother's former domestic partner is constitutional under the statute, the Supreme Court of Georgia instead issued an opinion in McAlister v. Clifton finding the challenge to be moot, since the daughter at the center of the litigation had turned 18.
