After a Georgia doctor’s failure to discover and remedy a perforation caused during ovarian surgery allegedly led to his patient’s death, a Hall County jury awarded the decedent’s family a $3 million wrongful death verdict.

But a Georgia Court of Appeals decision to toss the multimillion-dollar verdict for lack of plaintiff standing is reminding attorneys to ensure wrongful death claims are filed by proper parties in accordance with statute succession guidelines.
