Lawyers who won a $15.3 million verdict against a nursing home operator told the Daily Report they plan to use it to ask the Georgia Supreme Court to set aside the state’s $250,000 punitive damages cap.

“We plan to challenge the constitutionality of the cap,” Stephen Chance of Watkins, Lourie, Roll & Chance said in an interview Wednesday. He tried the case with Lance Lourie and Xavier Carter of Watkins, Lourie, Roll & Chance. Andrew King of their firm and Lindsay Forlines of Forlines Law assisted them.
