A Georgia law firm, plus its lawyers and client, have been sanctioned and fined nearly $300,000 by a judge after trying to “domesticate” a $1 million judgment it already received in California.

In a March 22 order, Fulton County Superior Court Senior Judge Alfred Dempsey Jr. said the Peachtree Corners firm of Hays, Potter & Martin and its client must pay $296,820.86 within 10 days to Arcturus International Inc., a Roswell-based land development company, and Delta Alpha Xray Inc., a now-defunct, North Carolina-based real estate business that was formed in 2011.
