The Swift, Currie, McGhee & Hiers law firm recently hosted a luncheon and conversation with Supreme Court of Georgia Justice Verda Colvin at its office in Atlanta. Colvin, who previously served as a Georgia Court of Appeals judge, was appointed to the Supreme Court in July by Gov. Brian Kemp. She is the first African-American female appointed by a Republican governor to the state's high court. In addition to Colvin, Swift Currie welcomed Ellany, a sophomore at Cristo Rey Jesuit High School in Atlanta, to the office to meet with Colvin and other attorneys. Swift Currie is sponsoring Ellany, whose last name was not released to protect her privacy, through the Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation program that supports Atlanta high school students who hope to become lawyers in the future. She is part of Cristo Rey's pipeline/high school corporate work study program. This event was coordinated by Swift Currie's diversity and inclusion committee, co-chaired by partners Martine Cumbermack and Mark Irby.
