King & Spalding’s lawsuit challenging a controversial bill in Alabama related to the rights of transgender children comes as the firm is focusing a significant amount of pro bono resources on LGBTQ matters.

The Atlanta-based firm recently joined Lightfoot, Franklin & White to challenge a bill signed by Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey on April 8 prohibiting parents from obtaining essential medical care for transgender children by imposing criminal penalties on them and their children’s doctors for providing that care. The firm has three partners, one counsel and four associates and paralegal assistants working on the case.
