Family, friends and colleagues gathered Thursday to remember the late Georgia Supreme Court Chief Justice P. Harris Hines and to take a first look at his official portrait.

The painting shows Hines smiling slightly in his black robe with a blue tie holding a red law book with an American flag behind him. The artist is Suzanne Royal of the northwest Georgia city of Rome. She was introduced to the group by Mary Margaret Hines Doyle, daughter of Harris and Helen Hines.
