It's been six months since city of Alpharetta Municipal Court Chief Judge Barry Zimmerman kicked off his latest four-year appointed term of judicial service. But in only two weeks, the judge will hang up his black robe for good as he retires amid a judicial misconduct investigation.

'Personal Reasons'

First appointed to the court in 2014, Zimmerman had been serving his third term when he tendered a letter Thursday to Alpharetta Mayor Jim Gilvin and members of the Alpharetta City Council announcing his plans to retire for "personal reasons."
