Before a packed courtroom inside the Nathan Deal Judicial Center, Chief Justice David Nahmias called to order Supreme Court of Georgia oral arguments Thursday with his fellow eight justices by his side.

But this time around, Nahmias’ family peered up at him from the public gallery, supporting the father, brother, son and soon-to-be-newlywed as he presided over a set of high-court arguments for the last time.
