Atlanta Legal Aid Society Executive Director Steve Gottlieb, who has said he plans to retire at the end of the year, was honored by the Georgia Supreme Court Wednesday for half a century of helping those in need of free civil legal services.

Chief Justice David Nahmias presented Gottlieb with the Court’s Amicus Curiae award at the beginning of the oral argument session on Wednesday. The chief called the designation “one of the most prestigious awards bestowed” by the court on judges, attorneys, and others who have “provided exceptional service to Georgia’s judicial system and citizens.”
