The State Bar of Georgia extends condolences to the family, colleagues and many friends of John C. Staton Jr., retired partner with King & Spalding in Atlanta, on his passing at the age of 83.

A member of the Georgia Bar since 1963, Mr. Staton was a clerk for U.S. District Court Judge Griffin Bell, the future U.S. attorney general. He joined King & Spalding in 1964 and was an expert practitioner in the areas of trademarks, patents and intellectual property.
