Meta Platforms, the parent company of Facebook, Instagram and other social media platforms, and other defendants were hit with an environmental lawsuit Thursday in Georgia Middle District Court. The suit, filed by Taylor English Duma and attorney Raymond T. Brooks Jr. on behalf of Julie G. Jenkins and James P. Gunn, accuses the defendants of dumping red clay waste onto the plaintiffs' property during the construction of a Facebook data center, resulting in soil and water contamination. Counsel have not yet appeared for the defendants. The case is 3:22-cv-00072, Jenkins et al. v. Meta Platforms Inc. et al.
