After 17 years on the Fulton County Superior Court bench, Judge Ural Glanville will soon become chief judge of the Atlanta Judicial Circuit.

As the most senior member of the bench, Glanville will take over when Chief Judge Christopher S. Brasher retires on Dec. 1.

Historical Promotion

When Glanville is sworn in as the new head honcho in just under two months, it is believed he’ll make history by becoming the Atlanta Judicial Circuit’s first Black male chief judge. However, multiple attempts to confirm the assertion went unanswered by court administration. In addition to presiding over civil and criminal matters and jury trials, Glanville soon will be tasked with administrative responsibilities as the new leader of the judicial circuit.
