South Carolina-based law firm Nexsen Pruet is open to merger talks heading into the new year, with the firm chair meeting with several other law firm leaders lately about combination opportunities, including Maynard Cooper & Gale.

Firm chairman Leighton Lord said he has met with “three or four different firms” about a merger in the last four months. In an interview this week, he also said the firm is eyeing multiple states for growth throughout the Southeast, including Georgia.
