Six years after a woman was killed in a metro Atlanta car crash, a Macon law firm has secured a $7 million wrongful-death verdict in which a jury said the driver was responsible and had been acting on behalf of his employer at the time.

Lakeisha Clark-Monfort’s husband, Jerry Monfort, sued M.D. Shafiullah for wrongful death after Shafiullah, driving a 2016 Dodge Durango, allegedly ran a red light at the intersection of the East-West Connector and Brookwood Drive in Austell and hit Clark-Monfort, who was driving a 2002 Honda Accord and taking a left turn there, according to the complaint. The mother of two children died upon arrival at Wellstar Cobb Hospital.
