The Georgia State Senate is considering a bill that, if passed, would result in changes in pretrial evidence requirements. This includes revisions made to “the hearsay exception regarding expert testimony and learned treatises,” which plays a large role in civil liability cases.

The Modernizing Georgia’s Evidence and Proceedings Act was introduced by Sen. John Albers, R-Roswell, and co-sponsored by Republican Sens. Randy Robertson of Cataula, Mike Dugan of Carrollton, Chuck Payne of Dalton, Brandon Beach of Alpharetta, Russ Goodman of Cogdell and Billy Hickman of Statesboro. Since its introduction, it has been referred to the Senate Judiciary Committee.
