The Georgia Senate Judiciary Committee held its first session this week. As the 2023 legislative session goes into full swing, committee chairman Sen. Brian Strickland, R-McDonough, gives the Daily Report a look into what to expect in the General Assembly this year.

Strickland is a trial lawyer and a manager at the McDonough office of Atlanta-based law firm Smith, Welch, Webb & White, where he specializes in personal injury, family law and civil and business litigation. In conversation with the Daily Report, Strickland talks local law firm culture and how lawyers can give back to the community and gives a sneak peak at a bill that could potentially overhaul state licensing requirements by changing the way licensing boards evaluate criminal convictions.
