Robins Kaplan announced that the firm helped secure a $28 million settlement on behalf of its client, Georgia state Sen. John F. Kennedy, R-Macon, against Education Corp. of America, or ECA, for breach of fiduciary duty.

ECA was represented by attorneys from Willkie and Stone & Baxter, with Craig Martin, a partner at Willkie, serving as lead lawyer on the case. The defendants reside in Illinois and Florida, but because plaintiff Kennedy is a Georgia citizen, jurisdiction fell to a Georgia court. At the time of publication, they had not yet responded to the Daily Report’s request for comment.
