The U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia recently saw a defense-friendly result when a jury awarded plaintiffs $5,000 in a dispute where they had asked the jury for $6.5 million.

The defense, a Miami-based trucking company represented by Scott McMickle and Matthew Sessions of McMickle Kurey & Branch, said their winning argument hinged on admitting a spreadsheet into evidence that showed “an extraordinary referral relationship” between the doctors, and the Witherite Law Group, the law firm of plaintiffs’ counsel J. Martin Futrell and Sean McEvoy.
