Georgia has been ranked a top “judicial hellhole” and “ thermonuclear corporate verdict hotspot“ with at least a dozen juries awarding eight-figure or higher judgments in the past year alone, according to Law.com’s Verdict Search.

But what’s less advertised is that not all of Georgia’s headline-making jury awards are collected in full. From assorted statutory caps on damages and appellate challenges to defendants’ financial inability to satisfy collection of the awards and new trial grants, some of the state’s most “nuclear” verdicts have been substantially reduced, if not eliminated, post trial.
