Iconic home furnishings brand Mitchell Gold Co., which announced over the weekend that it would wind down operations at its Taylorsville, North Carolina, factory, was hit with an employment class action on Aug. 28 in North Carolina Western District Court under the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act. The suit seeks 60 days' worth of wages and benefits on behalf of about 500 workers who were allegedly terminated without advance notice. The suit was brought by Higgins Benjamin PLLC; Lankenau & Miller; and the Gardner Firm. Counsel have not yet appeared for private equity owned Mitchell Gold.
