Members of the Judicial Nominating Commission for the state of Georgia play an important role. They screen candidates hoping to rise to the bench via gubernatorial appointment. The JNC reviews applications, conducts interviews and recommends a shortlist of candidates to the governor to fill state, superior and appellate judicial vacancies. The governor has the final say on judicial appointments. Click through the slideshow to meet the current gatekeepers. Gov. Brian Kemp announced the appointment, and reappointment, of 35 JNC members in October 2021. Since then, former JNC Co-Chair Shannon Glover Wallace and members Margaret "Meg" Ellen Daly of Savannah and William Dennis "Trey" Taylor III of Dublin are no longer listed as being a part of the commission.
